okay....this has been the for real longest time without an update. i am home from work today because i have pharyngitis, which i found out only through a computer printout and not from the doctor's mouth, so i have time to update. welp...a lot has happened since august. sheesh...where to begin. i live in dc proper now in a fucking great house in the best neighborhood on earth. i am playing in gurth now and we just released our demo on wednesday and that was a great show at the treeswing with look back and laugh and tradition dies here. this year i really want to work on my resolutions: always with the old standby--the exercising, also keeping in closer touch with friends and letter writing, writing more for myself, really focusing on music, really getting to know my friends better, working on QUAKE, and rethiniking and revamping the way in which i view relationships. the new year begon really hillariously...kelly was here and we pre partied a bit while putting on long fizzy robes in which we wore to the party. the party had kids from my ohio past, which was really interesting/surprising. however, the biggest surprise of all was that there was everclear in the punch and i had no idea and was really thirsty. that really snuck up on me and then i saw my friend, christopher, looking really dapper in his lil outfit that even had a cane. i told him that i loved his outfit and the cane really topped it off. then he told me that he hurt his knees and i felt really badly. so the next day i saw him at the amazingly successful brunch and asked hhim how his knees were. he said they were fine...why did i asked. i was like where's the cane? he said that was not him...that was someone else. apparently, the person with the cane really needed it, which everyone else seemed to know, and he looked nothing like christopher... what a weird night. i know i have a lot more funny stories, but i just wanted to give a quick update...oh yeah, how can we forget teh newest additions of emilie's and sarah's babies--emil and tess. what dreams.... oh and let us not forget the queer prom on feb 28th...the theme is tonight is the night to make it happen...hahah. it is gonna be a dream.

welp...it's been 2 months, so i figure i should update. stella mini tour came to a close and was a BLAST! 2003. i have decided to stay in the dc metro area, as i have secured a job as a domestic violence victim's advocate. i tried to go to nyc yesterday; but, due to the blackout, i have postponed it until banANNz returns with my car. highlights of tour: when paperdoll broke down in zanesville and andrea and i rescued them. as we pulled up, i saw some large birds, but i knew they could not be what i thought they were--but oh yes, those were some peacocks i was lookin at. when paperdoll rode there with the towing guy, bob, he kept saying, "see all these roads....forget em." they thought he was gonna slit their throats. then they get to the farm and he asks them to help the mrs. with the chickens, as she was loading em up for the ohio state fair. it ruled! there is so much more in which i will post later, but i should really destink myself before the hot ryde to brooklyn. biwads!

so...i am back from the great state and lemme tell you...it was great to see the kids... i have been making some large decisions lately as well... i do not think i am going back to law school (at least for a little while, which might turn into forever). the thought of it repulses me currently and i feel like i have really been neglecting things like music and organizing, which law school allows no time for... also, i hate living in the middle of a goddamn corn field where no one has ever heard of a vegan, much less diy music (i do love my four friends there, though). so last night was to goodbye del cielo, happy bday katy, anna, and sara party. lemme tell you the vegan black russians were flowin...there were so many nice people there and we played pictionary til 5am...i had lots of good conversations... about zines and comics and how important they are and about really having a sense of community and acceptance when you play shows, especially out of town, and not being met with a sense of exclusivity and cliquiness...and also about how certain places have reputations for lots of female/queer musicians, but really, when you live there, it is not so progressive (that was what was said about long island). i will say, though, that dc is super-supportive of women in music, although they are certainly not the majority...but the ones that are out there, seem to have really great support (at least from my friends and i)...this is just my observation...and this is not my domicile yet, so i am no expert. yeah...so that is what's on my mind...i am gonna send out the old resumes this week and see if i can find something with bennefits at a non profit...man...there werent any funny stories in this entry...i heart paperdoll and rachel jacobs and her friend, jade and the boys from stop it right now...they are all really lovely people...and paperdoll is playing with stella (by starlite, of course) and del cielo and temper temper in columbus aug 9th and in cleveland at a bowling alley august 11th...and stella is playing at summit station in columbus july 26th! woo!!! oh and delta dart and rachel jacobs are playing dc july 10th...these are shows i am excited about right now...everyone should come!

welp i am back in the great state on a business trip and it feels GREAT! also, the lavendar menace just got the old internet so i may be updating more...not to mention i will be at the treeswing soon, where the internet is always flowin... hmmm....a lot has happened since the mop story. i started my job as a domestic violence victim's advocate in the courthouse, which is depressing, but a really amazing program that helps a lot of people. i went to baltimore pride and gina young was working the door of the bar we went to...that was interesting to see. oh! kaia wilson, tami hart, kathy cashel, and andrea lisi played the treeswing last thursday and it was AMAZING!!! it was a show i really needed... the lavander menace had a very stressful party on saturday. there was a band there, who many people did not know was coming, and they freaked out cause they couldnt play. it was pretty smoothed over by the end, but there was some stuff said (about how much better they were) and one grrrl tried to fight my roommate! i am glad that noel from gurth said something about grrrls not being competitive...GSG damnit! come on now...we are all in the same boat...grrrls supporting grrrls...this entry makes no sense. oh and troy came this weekend, which was wonderful and filled with lots of vegan treats...man...i cant even think of all the stuff that has happened...dc pride was two weeks ago and there was an amazing king show ("the magic stick" was the best EVER) with the largest gathering of ladies EVER--even more than the tea dance! i am really missing the great state friends, so i hope i get to see you all...i want to go to gravy train!!!! tonight, so lets work something out... i am REAL happy for ms heart right now. also for nicole and laura's sexy best western job and erica's love of lost and delerious. sorry this is soo sporatic...oh yeah...and would anyone be interested in an escort service that just involves cuddling and holding hands? this is very important...i need to know how people feel about this. i am gonna try to update this lil number more!!

shooooweee...i havent written in a long time... so i made it. after the tea dance at the beach in delaware (the weirdest gathering of ladies EVER) with the columbus kids, nicole here for a week (which consisted of many trips to sticky fingers...yum...vegan bakery), and finding an old bike--the purple lotus, i have settled in (minus the joys of the internet for now) to college park, md. feels good to be in a city..yay! music, shows, wads...what more could a grrrl ask for? (besides all her ohio friends and good grades). hmmm...lots of weird things have happened in the past weeks...here are just a few... so, for those of you who dont know, the car is still being repaired in the great state...therefore, i have the purple lotus...it wasnt quite intact, but the banANNzA thought that we could just duct tape the whole in the wheel and ride it to the nyac conferece (nyacyouth.org). welp...that didnt work too well...i was on the rims in no time...so we didnt know where the conference was so we thought we should check it on the internet at the library with my busted bike...well what the hell library is open before 9am on a sunday? so then we thought we should go to the bike store to fix it, but that didnt open til 12...so we waited for the smoothie shop to open at 10, had smoothies, went to the comic book store (it was like out of a movie), then to the bike shop. we couldnt fix it there, so we walked the bikes all the way home...this is like about three miles... we got home and i REALLY needed a mop, so we were off walking again....asking the 7-11...ANYONE for a mop...we ended up walking the 3 miles back to the CVS in which we found a mop, i proceeded to have a coughing attack...and this little grrrl was buying a dancing hamster that sung "hey mickey." the cashier guy told her to not take it out of the box as it would be worth something some day...SHE WAS 5 AND IT WAS AS DANCING HAMSTER FROM CVS!! then there was one hamster that sung the kenny rogers hit, "the gambler" or whatever...and the guy was like, "you got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em.....GREAT SONG!!!" there is more, but taco fiest awaits...more later...kelly come to UMD!!! (and all other ohio greats!)

welp...the day has come...after incessantly checking other's journals, i have obtained one of my own, thanks to goodniteophelia and missellamason. (insert shout-out here). so i move to dc today, for the summer, and i cannot wait!--all the music and wads a grrrl could dream of (and that whole job thing, which should be amazing). if anyone knows me, which they probably do as i only have like three lj friends and this is my first entry, you probably have an idea about my car. if anyone knows one charlene simmons from the nati, please inform her that she is done a wrong. you do not go around hitting people and then taking off. you do not leave a person when they can only open two of the four doors of their car, the car now leaks, and they have to move to dc. i mean...how hot is it to go on a date and have to climb over the passenger side seat before your date? not hot, people! so now i am going to have to come back to the great state in like a week or so to pick up my wonky car (which should hopefully by fixed by then) and i can only take half of my stuff. the problem is underwear...i have a lot of it, but much of it is dirty, which i was planning to wash when i got down there. this is a problem in that i do not think i have room for my whole laundry basket (or large rubbermade container as it is), so looks like i will be buying more. i also got a new cell phone plan and number, so if you are an avid caller, please email me and i will give you the new digits...we may even be able to talk during the day now. okay...this is the most boring entry EVER. let's see...stella show went well on tuesday...i heart summit station. there will be another one on july 26th. i want killheart to get in to UMD...and that is about all i am thinking now. time to figure out what will fit...(i feel like i should end this singing something in a jingle-like form like yeahyeahyeah..
